For our 2014 conference we will be going ‘behind-the-scenes’ at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, one of the world’s most famous and prestigious football venues.

Designed by architects Manuel Monasterio and Luis Alemany Soler, the stadium had an initial capacity of 75,145 spectators, 27,645 of which had seats (7,125 covered) and 57,500 for standing fans. Today, the stadium is able to hold 85,454 spectators.


Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is set to become one of the most modern football venues on the planet. Its façade will be modified to feature a state-of-the-art design and the stadium itself will have additional visitor facilities and restaurants integrated in its structure, at a reported cost of some €400m.

President Florentino Perez described the ambitious project as “providing our stadium with an outer skin that will be a crowning architectural achievement. The Bernabéu has to become a unique stadium, the best in the world, and the crowning achievement of 21st Century stadium architecture.”
