Manchester City FC plans revolutionary glass tunnel at Etihad

There are just two months to go before the stadium design, construction and development industry gathers in Manchester for TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit 2016. To end the Summit this year, delegates will guided through an expert tour of Etihad Stadium’s new expansion & hospitality suite, plus a tour of the Etihad Campus.

Manchester City’s recent update on the project comes just as excitement begins to mount for the Summit. In a press release yesterday, Manchester City FC revealed plans for a new glass tunnel allowing fans to “watch stars from dressing room to the pitch”.

The planned addition is thought to be the first of its kind in Europe, and premium ticket holders can watch players prepare for matches as well as enter the pitch via a glass-surrounded staircase.

The plans have been met with some hesitance noting the negative consequences of the players being in full view “while still full of adrenaline and emotion.”

New first-floor dressing rooms in the Main Stand and the tunnel leading to the pitch should be ready by the sart of the 2017 season. The concept is based on that which the NFL team Dallas Cowboys are currently using.

Registered attendees of the Summit will meet the project team and take the full tour on 2 Nov. Join us here.
