Transformations – To Build or Renovate?

TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit has grown to become the world’s leading meeting for project teams involved in the design, development, refurbishment and delivery of major sports venue facilities globally.

Stadia leaders come together each year to share experiences, debate issues, and collectively decide the future of the industry, exploring the hot topics and answering the big questions.

The decision between building a new venue or transforming an existing facility is one of the most challenging for any stadium owner or operator.

New venues require big budgets, renovations are always complicated, and transformations impact operations during works.

At the Summit in Barcelona, we are delighted to welcome Diego Rodriguez, Senior Architect, IDOM, Spain to the 2017 speaker line up.

With more than 12 years architecture experience, Diego has worked at IDOM since 2007. His specialisation comes from participating in the development of sports architecture projects around the World, such as the New San Mames Football Stadium for Athletic Club in Bilbao, Mestalla stadium in Valencia, Nou Camp Nou stadium for FCBarcelona, Everton FC stadium at Wallton Park and the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, as well as Renovation concept of the Estadio Azteca and the Masterplan for the second phase of the Aspire Zone Sports City in Doha, among others.

Currently, Diego is responsible of the Project Management Team from IDOM assisting FC Barcelona on the development of Nou Camp Nou, Nou Palau Blaugrana and the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

Diego’s session will analyse the key aspects to be assessed on the true potential of the existing venue. We will show the do’s and don’t’s of transformation possibilities and their execution, with a focus on how to adapt solutions in the different worldwide markets while preserving traditional football values and improving atmosphere, ambience, revenue and comfort.

Hear more from Diego, alongside a world-class speaker line up, exclusively at the Summit on 28-29 November, Barcelona. Register your place here.
